We’re not sure if this is a new kid on the block in Flemington, or an old kid with a makeover but regardless, I Love Dumplings (alternatively called Chinese Spicy and Barbie Kitchen) is a winner. The small shao long bao ($9.80/8pc) (listed as steamed Shang-Hai pork dumplings on the English menu) are authentic, buttery and mouthwatering, the pork is fresh and good. There are a range of Northern Chinese staples, such as spring onion pancake ($5.00) (spring onion pie on the menu) – it’s oilier than you’d get in Beijing but delicious nonetheless, pan fried or steamed pork, chicken and prawn, lamb and beef or vegetarian dumplings ($7.80 – $8.80/15 pc) and every Mandarin speaker in the place for lunch (and there were many) was tucking into the hokkien noodles with pork and vegetables ($9.80). Mmmm.
It’s comfortable, not too noisy and has some pretty cool wall paper happening too! We love dumplings too!
